Family-friendly Surfing and Watersports
Located close to one of Devon's finest stretch of sandy beach at Dawlish Warren, we are of course a fantastic location to try out the amazing array of watersports available in the area. Hang ten, paddle the rapids or just float around and enjoy the view. The choice is yours!
Kayaking, Canoeing, SUPs & Surfing
We really are spoiled for choice when it comes to water sports in South Devon.
Kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and canoeing are all a fun, and family-friendly activities available on the nearby river Exe. Exe Adventures offer a with a free pick up service from Hazelwood Holiday Park and offer a number of water sport options.
Canoeing on the River Dart is also a great way to see South Devon at water level but it’s a bit further away.
Why not take a trip to nearby ExeWake based in Exmouth or Sea Sports SW based in Teignmouth for a spot of windsurfing, wakeboarding or kitesurfing – the new extreme craze to hit the South west.
Stand up paddle boarding, exploring sea caves, and coasteering are opportunities waiting for you, just along the coast in Torbay (more information from Reach Outdoors). Or how about paddle board yoga classes at nearby Decoy lake in Newton Abbot for all you yoga enthusiasts wanting to take things to the next level? (More information from Devon Windsurf).
Surfing is very popular in North Devon and North Cornwall. It will take a drive of about an hour and a half to visit the surfing beaches of Saunton, Widemouth, Bude and Croyde.
Many other sports are locally available including tennis, badminton, squash and indoor swimming – ask at Reception for information.
South West Coastal Path
The famous 630 mile South West Coastal Path stretches all the way along the coast from Dorset through South Devon, around Cornwall, along the North Devon coastline and ends up just past Exmoor in Somerset. Believe it or not, the Coastal Path comes right past our front door! You can plan your routes and use the public transport to bring you back. Just ask at Reception for some examples. Get more information here.
