The met office is forecasting a flaming June and July heatwave – that’s great news for the abundance of outdoor events planned this summer with spectacular airshows, concerts, and festivals for you to enjoy.

The red arrows in the sky

A free event which has grown tremendously since its successful launch in 2016, now attracting over 165,000 spectators over a two day period. Torbay is the ideal natural amphitheatre, a unique and stunning location and the perfect stage for a coastal display which kick starts the UK’s Airshow season at the beginning of June. Featuring the best of military and civilian display teams, many of which perform their first displays of the season in Torbay before they tour the rest of the UK. See the event programme for details (the Red Arrows are flying on Saturday). The entertainment is not only in the skies but also on the ground. Paignton Green is the hub of the event village where visitors will enjoy live music, exhibition stands, bars, food stalls, experiential activities, kids areas and much more.

People enjoying live music

We are excited that global superstar Craig David is performing his only full concert in Devon in 2019 just three miles from Hazelwood Holiday Park at Powderham Castle, including favourite songs, old and new. Joined by the international DJ Sigala with his full live band, following a smash hit performance from chart-topping artist and songwriter Becky Hill. Plus rising star DJ Nathan Dawe.

Books for sale

Celebrate books, reading and writing at Greenway, the beautiful holiday home of Agatha Christie in Brixham. Enjoy exploring the literary heritage of Greenway, with a changing daily programme of workshops, talks and activities. A children’s book week takes place in the May half term, followed by a week exploring crime writing and other genres. Booking is not needed for this free event but normal admissions apply. Some workshops may have separate ticket fees.

Dogs competing in a dog show with their owners

A great family day out at Warren Farm, just up the road from Hazelwood Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren. Show Jumping, Horse and Dog Showing Classes, Dog Agility, Dancing Dog Demo, Live Music, and Trade Stands to browse. Competitions commencing at 9am. Spectators are welcome (£1 per person) with proceeds going to Devon Air Ambulance and Starcross school.

Multi coloured bunting

Throughout the weekend the annual Folk Festival will be taking place at a variety of venues around our neighbouring seaside town of Teignmouth, full of quaint charm, pretty shops, cosy cafe’s and bars and yes, bunting! Free performances, a Saturday Night Ceilidh and the must-see Shanty men. There will be an information tent on The Triangle in Teignmouth town centre for details on the day.

People flock to this retro 80’s Family Friendly Festival which, this year, features favourites including Billy Ocean, Belinda Carlisle, The Human League, Nik Kershaw, Go West, Hot Chocolate, Betty Boo and many more artists to bring you the best of the 80’s, and a full day of general 80’s madness! Taking place in the grounds of beautiful Powderham Castle, three miles from Hazelwood Holiday park, it’s a stunning location like no other.

Red arrow plane in the sky

The main event will take place on Saturday 6th July 2019 along Teignmouth Seafront and The Den, just along the coast from Dawlish. The flight schedule is as follows: RAF Typhoon, a twin-engine, multirole fighter, RAF Spitfire British single-seat fighter aircraft, The Blades Formation aero-acrobatic team, Yak 3 World War II Soviet fighter aircraft, and the Pitts Special single light aerobatic biplane.
