Places to Visit
Make the most of your holiday in South Devon. Hazelwood Holiday Park in Dawlish Warren is a great location for exploring the nearby towns of Dawlish, Teignmouth, Exeter, Exmouth, Torquay, and Paignton.
At the heart of South Devon, Hazelwood Holiday Park is one of the best locations there is, with some lovely local towns and villages to discover. We have great transports links so you don’t have to rely on a car. As a bonus one of the country’s most scenic train journeys is right on our doorstep.
The bustling little town of Dawlish is a short drive or a lovely seafront walk away – enjoy ice creams on the Lawn as you watch the famous black swans. You will find bakers, butchers and chemists in the heart of Dawlish; just a short drive outside the town is a large Sainsbury’s which is open seven days a week.
The beautiful medieval city of Exeter offers the historic Cathedral, the newly refurbished RAMM museum, cinemas, theatres, bars, retaurants and nightclubs. Oh, and retail therapy, of course, ranging from boutiques to large 24 hour supermarkets and out of town shopping areas. Exeter Quay is another popular bar and restaurant hotspot. It really is the go to city for Dawlish residents and is easily accessed by a frequent train service.
The English Riviera
Torquay is the pride of the English Riviera and includes a bustling harbour front and waterside attractions like the famous Living Coasts sea life centre. Close to Paignton and Brixham these three areas form the English Riviera. Again, easily accessed by road, bus or rail the area is a great day out especially if you visit Paignton Zoo.
Lovely Harbour Villages
The village of Cockwood is less than a mile from Hazelwood Holiday Park and it’s an easy flat walk or cycle along the designated path– try the popular pubs The Ship and The Anchor pub. Other Exe Estuary towns with great pubs and restaurants are Topsham, Lympstone and Exmouth. Take the direct train to these towns too.
Dartmouth and Totnes
Dartmouth’s ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries & cafes. A cobbled market place features colourful stalls and Farmers markets supplying local produce. There is a great steam railway, steamer boat and open top bus excursion which links Totnes, Dartmouth and Paignton called the ’round robin’. Click for more info.
